Dr. Jorge A. F. Godinho

JorgeDr. Jorge A. F. Godinho is Associate Professor and Coordinator of the master’s program in International Business Law, Faculty of Law, University of Macau. He first arrived in Macau in 1991. He holds a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence with a thesis on patrimonial strategies of crime control (financing of terrorism, money laundering, confiscation, asset freezing, and detection mechanisms) and a master’s in Law from the University of Macau, with a thesis on the crime of money laundering. He is a law graduate of the University of Lisbon (1989). Previously, he was a lawyer (currently non-practicing), was in government, and is now an Associate Professor at the University of Macau. Current academic interests include gaming law (casino games of chance), civil and commercial law, and criminal law. Jorge Godinho has published a number of books and academic publications in Portuguese, English, and French. He translated the Macau Commercial Code into English. He has been published by publishing houses and in journals based in Macau, Portugal, Hong Kong, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Jorge has spoken at conferences in Macau, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Lake Tahoe, Maputo, Taipei, Barcelona, Nouméa, and Brussels. He speaks Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, and Italian.
