Dr. Weibing (Max) Zhao

Max ZhaoDr. Weibing (Max) Zhao obtained his terminal degree in Management from the World Tourism Education and Research Centre, University of Calgary, Canada. He is now a Lecturer in the area of tourism business management at the Institute for Tourism Studies, Macao SAR, China. In addition to membership in APAGS, he is also a key member of the Guangdong-Macao Development Strategy Group. Dr. Zhao’s research focuses on destination competitiveness, entrepreneurship, and the roles of tourism in human development. He approaches the phenomenon of gambling primarily from the perspective of tourism impacts and is particularly interested in the gambling-related behaviors of visitors and resultant host-guest relationships. His recent research work has appeared in a number of reputable international journals in the field, including Annals of Tourism Research, Tourism Management, Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research, Current Issues in Tourism, Tourism Recreation Research, and Event Management.
